After some serious down-time lately our website is finally back up and sporting a whole new look! Our new site is powered by the incredibly powerful Wordpress blogging engine which we recommend to everyone who is thinking of having a website designed, or re-designed. One of the biggest design hurdles was figuring out how to best showcase our enormous portfolios and so we decided to integrate lots of java scripts into the site which helped us organize and display a large quantity of images. Each portfolio is contained within a sliding box and when you click on a thumbnail, the java script Highslide is used to launch the full sized images in a really smooth and lovely image viewer. We incorporated all that with the NextGen gallery plugin for Wordpress so uploading all those images didn’t have to be too tedious a process.
“Highslide” turned out to be much more than a fancy image viewer and after some tinkering around we were able to combine it with our contact form which launches when you click on any of the “contact us” links throughout the site. Highslide is also the image viewer we used throughout our blog posts so if you click on any of the thumbnails in our posts you will see it in action.
As for the design, we concentrated on our new blue and brown branding colors that we used in our new logo and business card design (click left for a full sized image), and we designed our own icons which are used heavily throughout the site as a continuation of our branding. Next we will be extending our branding to our Myspace, Facebook and Twitter pages.
Mostly everything is now finished but there may be a a few links here and there we have yet to put in.
